Facelift

As our population ages, rhytidectomy, or a facelifts, has become the third most desired facial cosmetic surgical procedure offered. Facelifts address one of the three major aspects of aging faces; sagging skin. The goal of a facelifts is to raise the excess skin, from the face, to diminish wrinkling and sagging of the face and neck.

How you age is directly impacted by hereditary factors, personal habits, lifestyle, the pull of gravity, and the amount of prior sun exposure. In addition, Dr. Melendez will also consider where your skin is sagging, your total loss of volume, and your overall skin care regimen. Combined, these elements will determine where he will restore volume to your face, where he may remove some fat from your face, and what areas he will gently pull and tighten.

Before proceeding with your facelifts, Dr. Melendez will discuss realistic expectations — regarding the expected outcome – and any additional procedures, which should be performed at the same time as your facelifts, in order to obtain the most optimal result. Common procedures are rejuvenation of the eyebrows and eyelids, chin augmentation, and rhinoplasty. During your consultation, he will also discuss pre- and post-op instructions, as well as what to expect during your recovery.

Neck lift

Platysmaplasty, or neck lift, is a procedure that tightens the skin and removes fat from the neck. This procedure will reduce wrinkles and loose skin associated with aging. Necklifts, like facelifts, are often done in association with other procedures — like lip augmentation or eyelifts –to help the patient achieve optimum results. Small scars are hidden around and behind the ears, as well as under the chin. Necklifts are often performed on an out-patient basis, using general anesthesia or local anesthesia, with intravenous sedation.

Eyelid lift

It is estimated that each year, 10,000 men and women elect blepharoplasty, or eyelift surgery, to correct the sagging and bagging of the skin around the eye areas. Uncorrected, this part of the aging process results in a worn or tired appearance and, in some cases, actually interferes with vision. Blepharoplasty is a very individualized volume-restoration procedure, which may be combined with lower eyelid rejuvenation. This surgery will not alter dark circles, fine lines, and wrinkles around the eyes, or lift sagging eyebrows.

Prior to undergoing your eyelid lift, Dr. Melendez will discuss what to expect, outline pre- and post-op instructions, and answer any questions you may have about additional procedures that can be performed to provide you with the best, most realistic outcome.

Nose Reshaping

Nose reshaping, or a “nose job” is referred to by physicians as rhinoplasty. This procedure is designed to improve the proportions of the nose. This procedure may also be used to correct a deviated septum; a condition which results in difficulty with breathing. Rhinoplasty is often performed as an out-patient procedure and it will often involve removing a bump from the nose, narrowing the nose, and/or refining the nasal tip. Rhinoplasty can alter facial proportions and, for this reason, patients may elect to undergo other procedures to ensure symmetry and balance of the facial features.

Prior to surgery, Dr. Melendez will help you determine if you are a good candidate for rhinoplasty and he will discuss what to expect pre- and post-op. He will also answer any questions, you may have, about additional procedures that should be performed in conjunction with the rhinoplasty to produce the best, most realistic outcome.
