Dr. Mark Melendez Welcomes Guests to Ribbon-cutting Ceremony and Party to Celebrate His New Medical Practice Fairfield Plastic Surgery on December 9, 2015
Fairfield, CT — Â Dr. Mark Melendez, who has offices in both Greenwich and Shelton, Connecticut, held a ribbon-cuttting ceremony and a party to celebrate the opening of his newest practice, Fairfield Plastic Surgery, in Fairfield, Connecticut, on December 9, 2015. Fairfield First Selectman Mike Tetreau and Fairfield Chamber of Commerce President Beverly Balaz participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony, along with Dr. Melendez, his wife, Dr. Renee Baranin-Melendez, and their eldest son, Mark Richard. The party, which was attended by colleagues, friends, and family members, featured delicious tapas dishes from Chef Daniel Lopez, owner of Taberna Restaurant, also in Fairfield.
Dr. Melendez took over Fairfield Plastic Surgery, in September of this year, after Dr. David Yan — who had run the practice for several years — decided to relocate to Florida. Dr. Melendez, and Dr. Yan, had trained at the same plastic surgery residency program, on Long Island, and Dr. Yan approached Dr. Melendez to incorporate his office into his own practice.
A gifted, Johns Hopkins Fellowship-trained microvascular surgeon, Dr. Melendez performs a full spectrum of plastic and reconstructive surgery for the face, hand, body, and breast, along with facial rejuvenation (including fillers). He also specializes in breast reconstruction surgery, including the DIEP flap procedure, for breast cancer patients.
Dr. Melendez notes, “I am honored to have taken over this new practice and to continue to offer all of my patients a holistic approach to surgery, along with total patient accessibility. I provide all of my patients with my personal cell phone and I also make house calls, when necessary.”
Dr. Melendez takes the Hippocratic Oath very seriously and he performs volunteer surgery, for uninsured patients, in Connecticut. He also participates in one international medical mission, each year, where he performs a wide array of volunteer surgery for adults and children.
A member of the Board of Directors, of Susan G. Komen Connecticut, Dr. Melendez will be donating a portion of the profits — from the breast reconstruction surgeries, that he has performed, during the months of October, November, and December of 2015 — to this worthy organization. He has earmarked his donation to provide mammograms to women who cannot afford this screening procedure.
Dr. Melendez has privileges at many area hospitals, including Greenwich Hospital, Saint Vincent’s Hospital, Norwalk Hospital, Saint Raphael’s Hospital, Milford Hospital, Griffin Hospital, and Yale-New Haven Hospital. He is also an Assistant Professor at the Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University in North Haven.
He and his wife, Dr. Renee Baranin-Melendez — an emergency room physician at Greenwich Hospital – reside in Wilton with their sons, Mark and Matthew.
